2022 Mississauga Celebration Square Large Event Application
The City of Mississauga is committed to equity and inclusion. We welcome and encourage applications from all qualified organizations. We continuously seek to improve access to our programs and ensure large event applications are received from diverse and underrepresented Mississauga communities. We recognize the diversity of the people of Mississauga and encourage communities to provide feedback on how this event application program can better meet the needs of Mississauga residents.
COVID19 | IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, permitted activities including community programs, festivals, events and gatherings were not permitted for most of 2020 and 2021.
Please note that large gatherings, festivals and events may not be permitted or may be cancelled at any time in 2022 in accordance with provincial guidelines.
Central Library closed on December 24, 2020 to undergo a major renovation to meet the growing needs of its customers and changing business priorities. The renovation will move the library forward as an important part of an urban community that inspires literacy, creativity and lifelong learning. To ensure visitor safety, construction hoarding will be used around the construction space, reducing Celebration Square’s event footprint. Access will be unavailable to the following spaces:
Celebration Square Raised Garden (lower/south Square)
Noel Ryan Auditorium
Additional spaces such as committee rooms and meeting rooms will be available to rent in the Civic Centre and in the Living Arts Centre.
Please see the attached map for further detail.
Construction is scheduled to begin April 2021, with completion expected in late 2022.
The library will reopen in early 2023.
CELEBRATION SQUARE BOLLARDS/GATES
The gates at Celebration Square have been replaced with bollards to improve the security infrastructure. The process for Celebration Square access will be communicated with event organizers through the Supervisor Event Services.
Once approved, event dates are assigned using the rankings established by the Mississauga Celebration Square Community Reference Group. Successful applicants will be notified once the events and dates are decided and contracted in late November/early December. Assigned dates are final and may not be appealed. Returning applicants are not guaranteed approval by the Mississauga Celebration Square Community Reference Group. Successful returning events will not be guaranteed the same date as the previous year.
